Abstract

"Manijeh and Bijan" is an epic story in Kurdish culture and literature, which is known as "Bijan and Manijeh" in Persian literature. This almost similar title shows many commonalities and few differences in the structure and content of the two narratives and proves that the origin of both narratives is a single geography and later evolved in two separate areas. This epic story has been examined from different perspectives; But the time and place of its discovery have not been studied much. There are two opinions about the time of creation: first, the time of creation returns the narrative to an ancient and unknown period, and the other to the period after Christ. As for the place of discovery, some consider it to be among the literature of Gorgan and Merv, while others consider it to be related to Nahavand and Zagros region. The present essay, in a descriptive-analytical way and by means of internal evidence, considers the origin of this story to be related to an ancient and unknown period that came out of Kurdistan and traveled to different places, including Khorasan and Armenia, and saw transformations along the way. And in the final processing, he removed the Shahnamehs.
