This article explores the situation or how the concepts of “child” and “childhood” appear in Kurdish written and oral texts. When it comes to children and childhood, the subject comes into focus from two perspectives; First, the child as a biological phenomenon that has existed since the beginning of human life and has undergone a process of physical development. second, the child as a social concept that here becomes a historical phenomenon; That means, it emerged at a particular stage of human social maturity. The main question of this paper is whether the two concepts of children and childhood have emerged as a biological phenomenon or as a social phenomenon. For this purpose, the researcher has analyzed the subject among the oldest historical and literary texts (poetry) and oral dictionaries (verses and proverbs) and has analyzed these two concepts on dozens of examples in the texts. The results of the study explains that in Kurdish written and oral texts, children and childhood appear more as a biological phenomenon.
