A systematic study of the language of the novel Sunset of the Butterfly using a critical discourse analysis approach revealed that patriarchal discourse reproduces the hierarchy of gender power through mechanisms such as the opposition of masculine (killing, commanding) and feminine (enduring, crying) verbs and Bakhtiar Ali's metaphorical language. On the other hand, religious discourse, by creating disciplinary institutions such as the girls' school - which operates according to Foucault's theory - systematically suppresses women through mechanisms of surveillance, body control, and identity redefinition, and these two discourses, in an intertwined manner, naturalize structural violence against women in Kurdish society. However, the novel also addresses methods of resistance, including the romantic relationship of female characters as acts of resistance. The final result of the research emphasizes that the main tragedy of the novel lies not in the fate of the characters, but in the vicious cycle of violence that traps both women and men. By analyzing the links between language, power, and ideology, this study demonstrates how literature can reflect and critique social structures.
