Intertextuality is one of the fundamental concepts in contemporary literary theory, emphasizing the interconnectedness and mutual interactions of texts. From this perspective, no text exists independently but rather derives meaning within a network of intertextual relations. Drawing on this framework, the present study undertakes a comparative analysis of two young adult novels: The Mountain Called Me by Mohammadreza Bayrami and A Ball Adrift on the Water by Zanyar Derakhshani. Six narrative elements are examined: plot, suspense, setting of time and place, character and characterization, theme, and narrative perspective. The aim is to reveal both the similarities and differences in the use of these elements and to explore the extent of intertextual influence between the two works. The central research questions are: Does an intertextual dialogue exist between the novels? What commonalities in narrative elements may indicate reciprocal influence? Employing a descriptive-analytical method and relying on library sources, the study demonstrates that intertextual relations are clearly evident in both works. The findings further suggest that the narrative structure of The Mountain Called Me has, to some extent, influenced the composition of A Ball Adrift on the Water.
