Linguistics examines language at three levels: phonology, grammar, and semantics. Morphology, a subfield of grammar, is concerned with the structure of words. To date, studies of Kurdish rhetoric and morphology have paid little attention to the role of the musicality of words and its effects. Instead, they have largely been confined to rigid theoretical frameworks that have overlooked this aspect of the language. This study examines several examples of the phonological processes of alternation, substitution, and deletion across Kurdish dialects in order to demonstrate the influence of word musicality on the structure and form of words. The examples are not equally distributed among all dialects; most are drawn from the Central Kurdish dialect, which may invite criticism. Nevertheless, previous research has established the existence of these phonological processes across all Kurdish dialects. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach based on library research and the author's linguistic intuition as a native speaker of Central Kurdish. As a largely neglected topic in Kurdish grammar, word musicality can help explain the diversity of Kurdish and its dialects and contributes, to some extent, to semantic development and lexical expansion. It may also be one of the principal reasons why speakers of one Kurdish dialect perceive other dialects as unfamiliar.
