The Khāvarān-Nāmeh-ye Gūrānī is an epic-religious poem that vividly depicts the legendary battles of Imam Ali and his companions against the kings and rulers of Khāvar-zamin. This invaluable literary work merits investigation not only for its content but also for its narrative structure. The present study employs a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing Gérard Genette’s narratology theory to analyze the narrative technique of the “Narrative Voice” within this poem. The research aims not only to deepen the understanding of this significant Gūrānī work but also to enrich the body of knowledge in the fields of literature and narratology by applying modern literary theories. The findings reveal that the Khāvarān-Nāmeh constructs an engaging and multilayered narrative through the intelligent application of various narrative techniques. Analyses indicate a dominance of the “extradiegetic narrator” with complete knowledge of the events, which facilitates the integration of ethical and religious viewpoints. Events are predominantly narrated in the “analepsis” form using past tense verbs, emphasizing the narrator’s full mastery over the occurrences. The use of “prolepsis” mainly through dreams and prophecies, serves to underscore divine destiny and heighten suspense. The sequencing of events, involving direct chronological order and shifts, establishes a structure for advancing the plot and increasing the semantic layers of the narrative.
