The role of literature as a form of attitude towards society and nature is important in any society. In fact, literature is the relationship between humans, nature, and life. The main goal of this research is to examine the attitudes of four Kurdish poets (Heiman, Qane, Avat, Rawchi) towards nature and the environment. The conceptual framework of the research is derived from the schools of green environmentalism, place theory, and eco-critical literature. The research method is documentary and the data was analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The statistical population consists of the four main divans of the mentioned poets. Their poems have been surveyed in this volume in a census manner.
In analyzing the poetry of these poets, nine themes related to the environment were identified (love of nature, personification of nature, natural disasters, animal hunting, effects of war, effects of technology, animal captivity, and the importance of water, air, and soil). The results showed that the poetry of these poets includes elements such as awareness, aesthetics, critical perspective, dependence on place, and environmental friendliness, which is a sign of a high attitude towards the environment. In the opinion of these poets, war, natural disasters, overhunting, animal captivity, and technology threaten the environment (death, damage, and pollution), and in return, love for nature, the value of the main elements of nature (soil, water, air), and respect for the rights of living beings can act as a factor in preserving the environment and the right to life of other living beings.
